Strategic Plan

The Cox-Henderson Administration has tasked all state departments to improve agency strategic planning coordination to drive effective investments and best use of Utah’s resources. Department strategic plans guide decision-making and clearly link the budget and the agency’s mission.

The Department of Natural Resources first published a high-level agency-wide Strategic Plan July 1, 2023 and have now released its Strategic Plan for 2026. Individual divisions and offices have more detailed plans. The plan is reviewed regularly and updated as needed. The 2026 plan includes work plans for each division. While a strategic plan focuses on defining an organization's overall goals, objectives and tactics to achieve them over an extended period, a work plan drills down to the specifics of how those objectives will be accomplished in the short- to medium-term.
