Housing: Provided housing in two-bedroom apartments with basic furnishings. Pets may be
allowed depending on current housing status.


The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, has a seasonal position (no benefits) available at Goblin Valley State Park, Utah. Four positions will be hired with seasons ranging from 6-9 months, starting in late February or early March.

Job Duties

These positions will assist full-time staff with a variety of park management duties. Duties include daily cleaning of park restrooms and facilities, groundskeeping, and completing park maintenance projects. Positions will cover visitor center and gift shop operations including greeting guests, selling passes, taking reservations, answering phones, providing information and customer service, selling gift shop merchandise, and maintaining gift shop inventory and stocking.

The position will also assist with, or present, educational programs, patrol park grounds and trails,
and will assist with search and rescue and other emergency response duties.

Job Requirements and Skills

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to successfully pass a criminal history background check. Applicants must be able to operate a computer with internet-based programs and be willing to work in an outdoor setting with shifts that include weekends, holidays, and evenings. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. Experience as a ranger or in a park setting, or related education is preferred. Cash handling experience and First Aid/CPR certification are preferred but not required.

Other
Incumbent must be able to work in extreme and adverse weather conditions (heat, wind, snow, ice, rain, etc.). The park is in a very remote setting and it is preferred that applicants have a personal vehicle.
