Park Ranger Aide – Maintenance (Sand Hollow State Park)

The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation, has seasonal positions (no benefits) available at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah. This appointment will last up to 1500 hours for a 12-month period. Housing is not provided.
Examples of Duties:
Assist with the building and grounds maintenance operations at Sand Hollow State Park. Employees will perform a variety of duties, including general upkeep and maintenance of park facilities and grounds, and hosting park visitors.
Maintenance:
Responsible for maintaining the upkeep of buildings and grounds, performing specialized duties related to plumbing and electrical work, and occasionally operating heavy machinery.
Job Requirements and Skills:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid Utah Driver’s license at the time of employment. Applicant should have the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; be able to follow both oral and written instructions; be willing to perform general building maintenance, and groundskeeping, use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and power tools such as weed eater and leaf blowers, operate small equipment such as mowers and tractors, etc.
Preference:
Applicants with education in a natural resource-related field and those with experience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, and customer service industries.
Other:
Applicants must be willing to work an 8-hour day shift in an outdoor setting. Must be willing to work night shifts, on weekends, and on holidays. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Criminal history checks are required for state employment.
Work requires physical exertion; may require standing, walking over rough surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting objects to 50lbs. in a recurring manner or for a long period of time.
