The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources, has a seasonal position (no benefits) available at Strawberry Reservoir, Utah. This appointment will be full time (40 hours per week) from approximately May 1 through Oct. 31, 2024.

Examples of duties

The successful applicant will assist with fisheries-related duties throughout the year and will include gill netting and fish population assessment, stream habitat and population surveys, stream restoration work, electrofishing, fish stocking programs, operation of fish traps and fish spawning activities, collection of limnological information, angler surveys, data entry and analysis, routine maintenance of equipment and office work, public presentations, and other related duties as assigned.

Job requirements and skills

Experience and ability to operate boats and four-wheel drive vehicles, a valid driver’s license, experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs; ability to work alone in inclement weather conditions, willingness to work long days and variable schedules. Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor of Science degree or those actively pursuing a university degree in biological sciences, and those that are available through October 31.

Other

Work will be conducted outside in inclement weather. Heavy lifting and hiking are required.
