The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, has a part-time position (no benefits) available at Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, Utah. This appointment is limited to a maximum of 1500 hours per year.

Job Duties 

The Part-Time Park Ranger Aide at Frontier Homestead State Park Museum will provide support across a variety of museum and park operations, including but not limited to:

  • Greet visitors, sell admissions and passes, provide information about exhibits and park history, answer questions, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Clean and sanitize museum facilities, restrooms, exhibits, historic buildings, and grounds.
  • Perform groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, landscaping, trash removal, and light maintenance of buildings, trails, and historic structures.
  • Support special events, educational programs, tours, setup, coordination, and visitor engagement.
  • Manage phone inquiries and assist with general administrative or operational tasks.
  • Perform light maintenance, routine repairs, and upkeep of facilities and equipment.
  • Follow all park and state policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job Requirements and Skills 

  • No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn, strong interest in history or state parks, and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) repeatedly or for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed; priority will be given to applicants with weekend availability.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with visitors of all ages.
  • Experience with computerized systems, retail operations, or maintenance skills is beneficial but not required.

Preference will be given to an individual seeking BS degree or has a BS degree

  • Must be able to work in variable indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or wind.
  • Positive attitude and adaptable personality; able to interact with the public and park staff professionally. 
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative in performing new tasks and responsibilities.
