The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, has one (1) seasonal, time-limited, Lead Park Ranger Aide or Park Ranger I position available at Bear Lake State Park near Garden City and
Laketown, Utah. It is anticipated that each position will work 40 hours per week through the summer months and a lesser number of hours during the off-season months, for up to an approximate total of 1500 hours. Benefits are not provided. Housing options may be available.

Examples of Duties

Assist in the daily operations of Bear Lake State Park: provide excellent customer service; greet park visitors; operate an entrance station; collect park fees; coordinate and set work schedules and assist with the supervision of Park Ranger Aides; be the lead position with regards to the park’s interpretive programs; assist with the park’s retail sales program; perform maintenance of park buildings and grounds; perform aquatic invasive species education and interdiction; clean park restrooms and facilities; and, perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid Utah Drivers license at the time of employment.
  • Applicants must be able to work in an outdoor setting, and work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Applicants must be able to competently operate a computer with Internet-based programs.
  • Applicants shall have the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in a recreation and tourism environment.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in cash handling, retail sales, interpretive programming, accounting and reporting; customer service; education in a natural resource-related field; operation of various maintenance and groundskeeping equipment; and, aquatic invasive species education and interdiction.
